What a whirlwind of a month this has been here at Nakai Photography! I traveled to Arizona at the beginning of the month for Donna + Justin’s Arizona Biltmore Wedding, then to Las Vegas for the WPPI convention…and I finished the month off with an engagement session in Washington DC + Georgetown!
Rachel + Daniel are getting married this summer in Chicago…but since they both live and met in the DC area, they wanted to have their engagement session at ‘home’! I love the opportunity to travel for my photography and it was my first real trip to Washington DC!
I enjoyed seeing the Washington Monument from the Lincoln Memorial– The view made for a cool engagement picture!
It had snowed the morning before, so we were all so thankful when the snow melted and the sun came out! The light really accentuates the Lincoln Memorial columns!
I’m loving their smiles!
We made an impromptu stop at the Capital for a few photos- We kept our distance to avoid all the spring break tourists! We found a large puddle for a cool reflection photo!
Washington DC was so crowded…I did my best to minimize the people in the background while maintaining my composition-
I saw these rays coming through the clouds…and we HAD to stop to grab some photos along the Potomac River!
A couple photos outside of the Washington DC Conservatory
I love this photo!
We found some cool urban art in Georgetown and had to take a photo with it!
Georgetown has these really cool canals that I fell in love with! They reminded me of my trip to Venice a couple months ago! We definitely don’t have canals like this in Chicago!
I loved this photo in black + white…the tone and graphical elements just work together so well!
Another photo by the Potomac River-
Thanks to Rachel + Daniel for having me as your engagement photographer! I had a great time in Washington DC and I can’t wait til your wedding! Thanks for taking me to all the hot spots for food as well! The Kabobs + Korean BBQ hit the spot! =)
See you guys soon!
your Chicago wedding photographer,
Kenny
