Jenny + Mike’s Wedding Photos from Kohler, WI

Jenny is from Chicago.
Mike is from Green Bay.

Now if you are a typical Chicago native…you may wonder how such a pair could ever get together. =) Jenny is a Chicago Bears fan…Mike is a Green Bay Packers fan. For some that is like mixing oil and water. And yet these two were able to see through their football allegiances to developed a relationship here in Chicago.

We had a great time at their engagement session this past summer. If you haven’t seen their engagement photos, be sure to check them out at this blog post!

The American Club: Kohler, WI

Kohler, WI is conveniently located between Chicago and Green Bay. And so Jenny + Mike found a gorgeous venue with The American Club for their wedding ceremony and reception! Though a renowned Golf resort in its own right, The American Club, was a perfect choice for their wedding! We started in the bridal suite taking photos of Jenny’s details

A photo of her Enzonai wedding dress-

Her wedding shoes –

I went over to take a portrait of Mike getting ready…this was my favorite photo of him all ready to go-

Tania & Nevsy from Custom Hair Lounge came all the way from Chicago for their hair and makeup!

A creative photo with her wedding bouquet

A photo of the beautiful bride!

Had to take picture of this belt that added so much to her wedding dress!

Another photo of the bride in B&W

A lovely photo of the soon to be newlyweds!

Looking good! A classic photo and pose

Bridal Party Photo!

All the bridesmaids in their LulaKate navy blue dresses from Bella Bridesmaid

Love the moment!

The American Club in Kohler, WI

The wedding ceremony was held in one of the courtyards of the American Club resort- The wedding invitations, programs and other paper items were done by Jessica Creter from Tulaloo.com

A moment that Jenny and her dad will never forget- =)

The American Club courtyards gazebo all set up for the wedding ceremony!

Nothing says love like a little emotion-

A photo of the bridesmaids bracelets –

After the ceremony we skipped out to take a few more photos of the new bride and groom!

Since we were in Kohler, WI, we decided to take a few photos in front of the Kohler factory!

The Kohler factory was a perfect backdrop!

A water fountain at the American Club

And one last moment together before the reception starts!

Reception centerpieces

The wedding cake in one of the many American Club reception rooms.

I took so many photos of the first dance…here’s one with a different point of view-

Father of the bride giving his toast-

As the evening wore on…Jenny put on her party dress! Time to have fun w/her girls! Thanks to Eddie Butts Band for the great music!

And one last fun shot of the bride and groom dancing/jump roping! =)

Thanks Jenny + Mike for the privilege of photographing your wedding! As I said to you throughout the day- there were so many moments I will never forget! The weather was perfect and the vows…so memorable! Congratulations to you both!

with love,

your wedding photographer…

Anisa + Imran’s Multiday Wedding Celebration!

Photos from my first Chicago Pakistani Wedding!

Anisa and Imran flew my out to San Francisco, CA for their engagement photos earlier this year. It was the city of their first date! =) If you missed out our killer SF MOMA engagement session, be sure to check the photos out! And since we spent a good amount of time together out in California, spending time with them during their multi-day wedding festivities was a lot of fun!

They had small party at the swank Galleria Marchetti- a really cool venue that is really close to my photography studio!

The patio area of Galleria Marchetti

We took a few photos in their garden area- I loved this moment between them-

The following day- they had two Pakistani wedding celebrations going on at the same time- I was with Anisa taking photos at her party, and I had Robb come out to help cover Imran’s party!

A fun photo!

The same Pakistani ceremony at Imran’s party!

Fast forward to her wedding day- a detail photo of Anisa’s wedding sari-

And with most saris, it takes careful effort and measurements to get it ‘just right’. This little guy is checking out the folds to make sure they are done ‘just right’ =)

Anisa was AMAZING to photograph. She blew me away throughout the day. Thank you Anisa for your confidence and trust in me as your wedding photographer!

I LOVE THIS PORTRAIT of Anisa. Amazing. Stunning. Beautiful. Something about this photo…I love my job as a wedding photographer to capture an amazing portrait a bride on her wedding day.

Definitely have to have a photo of their Pakistani milk ceremony

Anisa waving goodbye to her parents as she leaves their home as a single woman for the last time!

The wedding ceremony was held at the Ismaili Center in Chicago. As it was a Pakistani Muslim wedding ceremony, there were no photographs allowed. So once they came back downstairs, I was able continue my wedding coverage- Here the groom needs to bribe these two girls…and that would be a nice fat bill in Imran’s hand-

After leaving the Ismaili Center- we headed to nearby park in Chicago for their creative wedding photos-

I really enjoy the simplicity and colors of this photograph

And one thing…Imran is great at making his bride smile. =)

Another amazing photo of Anisa.

Love this moment-

The stunning newly weds-

Anisa almost seems like she belongs in Pakistani Wedding magazine!

My favorite portrait of Imran-

What a good looking couple-

…and yet the know how to laugh and have fun!

Their wedding reception was held at The Stonegate in Hoffman Estates.

A photo of their wedding cake

A Stonegate room shot-

The sun was setting…we had to go outside to grab a couple photographs after Anisa changed outfits!

A totally different hairstyle- a nice evening look-

A Pakistani wedding tradition of crushing ceramic discs-

First dance photos!

I turned off my flashes to grab an ambient light photo-

Anisa dancing with her niece!

And one last photo of the newlyweds!

Thank you Anisa and Imran for having me as your wedding photographer! It was truly an honor to celebrate with you over the course of four days! My only wish…I wish you guys weren’t in SF! Well…I guess I have friends to visit when I had out there!

Congrats again!

with love,

your wedding photographer, Kenny Nakai

Maureen + Marty’s Engagement Pictures!

Chicago is a fabulous city for pictures. Wedding photos, lifestyle photos, and engagement photos! There’s just so much variety! As a wedding photographer, I love being able find all these cool little nooks in the city that so few people know about! This engagement photo session w/Maureen + Marty is a perfect example!

Chicago Engagement Pictures: Northerly Island

Northerly Island…formerly Meigs Field, is a stark reminder of Mayor Daley. It was controversial how he tore up Meigs field in the middle of the night. But politics aside…Northerly Island is a great place to have a picnic or to take a beautiful stroll on a gorgeous day. It’s one of Chicago’s better kept secrets. The view of the Chicago Skyline is pretty epic. I hope you enjoy their engagement pictures!

We started off w/a nice casual look w/Lake Michigan in the background

Maureen + Marty are so much fun together and they were continually smiling in all their pictures!

Lake Michigan actually looks kind of nice in this picture. =) I love the serene feeling this picture evokes. A sense of peace.

A pictures standing in the rubble of what was once a runway. The remnants of Meigs Field.

They can’t wait to be married! And then they can be in the same state together!

Love this engagement picture!

Chicago is famous for it’s skyline. So many wedding photographers take the SAME Chicago Skyline shots over…and over…and over. I’ll admit that I have taken the cliche pictures too…but I love to come up with something unique and creative. Like this picture! I love it!

Maureen is so light that Marty was twirling her around for a few minutes!

Love their smiles! And the iconic Chicago Skyline in the background!

Thanks Maureen + Marty for a great time together! And thanks for being willing to come out to Northerly Island! It think it was worth it! Goodtimes! And Marty- eat some Pappy’s ribs for me down there in St. Louis!

Can’t wait til October!

Sincerely,

your wedding photographer…Kenny
